LSD? Stop the dragons - get a lock on the fridge.

Or you can put a lock on your kitchen  cupboards.

Better still, how about putting a mental lock on your food cravings?

Wouldn't that a better a idea? Not to want to eat when you don't need to. Not to eat for the sake of eating, when you don't feel hungry.

There's no need to resort to LSD -

when you have - hypnosis - and/or self-hypnosis, as a less risky alternative.

One of the fundamental reasons 97% of diets fail is because the battle going on inside your head.

Doctors will tell you, you are overweight because of having too many hormones or a lack of them or you have the fat-gene - but what that says to your subconscious  is - 'forget dieting you are not going to succeed - so why bother?' - very helpful I don't think.

The latest fat news coming from the medical community is that obesity is a disease. Really? Are they sure? So nothing to do with a radical change in our eating culture and exercise levels - wow. What a load of crap.

That's not to say that there are not other reasons people suffer weight problems apart from eating a poor diet. An under-active thyroid. Mental health issues such as depression. Diabetes. Steroids. Nine-medical-reasons-for-putting-on-weight.

So judging someone by how overweight they are, really is unfair. Fat shaming is cruel and ignorant because you don't know their personal circumstances.

In this article, I'm talking about normal people being given the wrong reason they are  overweight by doctors who should know better.

During WW2 the UK population was, apart from being bombed out of existence, at it's most healthiest. Why - simple - they were restricted in what the could eat. That and the fact, life back then did not have modern conveniences, like microwaves and processed food. And everyone got off their butts because they had to.

It does not take a genius looking around a supermarket to see the trolleys filled up with snacks, biscuits, sugar laden foods etc etc are usually being pushed by those who could well do without the contents they are about to purchase.

Again it's unfair to say that gluttony is the cause of their weight problem. Depression, and comfort eating, go hand in hand - so best not to judge.

Dieting is a bitch. You go hungry. You lose some weight. You eat. You put the weight back on. What is going on?

Consider this. You restrict yourself to eating 1500 calories a day. First week - you dump a pound or two. After awhile you stop losing weight. You eat 1000 calories a day. You start losing weight. After awhile you stop losing weight. So, you eat 700 calories a day - until you are eating so little that you stop dieting and start eating again. Basically the body adjusts to different calorie levels and plateaus. The most effective way to bypass your body's reaction is Time Restricted Eating. And or OMAD - one meal a day. This article by Reddit gives a good explanation of  OMAD

Time Restricted Eating or Intermittent Fasting - is a concept that has been around for a long time. It's not a fad. It has a very firm basis from a lot of scientific research.

The theory is quite simple. By eating 3 meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, your body is so busy digesting that it has little time to repair any damaged cells. By fasting for a certain number of hours a day, you give your body the all important time it needs, to clean it'self of damaged/dead cells, and then replace the unwanted cells with new ones.

I first started fasting and practising OMAD in particular in the hope that it would reduce my arthritic pain. I never expected for one moment that not only would I no longer be in pain, but that my swollen joints would start to become normal again. Which is exactly what is now happening. One of the things I like about Intermittent Fasting is that you don't have to count calories, and can you eat what you like, as long as you eat within the restricted eating time window.

But what if your reasons for dieting are simply to slim down to a normal healthy weight? Except you have given up the whole idea of dieting in any form because you have battled yo-yo weight gain and loss for so long, you see the whole process as pointless?

What if there was a solution to yo-yo dieting?  Wouldn't you want to try it? What if, it is your own mind working against you that is the root cause of weight regain?

How often have you heard - he/she can't lose weight because he/she's got no willpower? Well it's simply not true. Reducing weight and keeping the weight off has nothing to do with lack of willpower. And everything to do with your subconscious imagination.

Basically - success in slimming comes down to the battle of the minds. Your two minds inside your one brain. Your conscious mind - an your subconscious mind.

The conscious mind, the one that controls your willpower is easy to deal with, if you get your subconscious mind, the one that controls your consciousness, in sync with you wanting to slim. To do that you have to talk to your subconscious mind. Why do you need to talk to your subconscious? It's in your subconscious mind where all your life's experiences is stored. Your subconsciousness remembers everything that's every happened to you, even if your conscious mind doesn't. And that's where the problem lays. The subconscious is there to keep you safe. And by safe it means happy. An unhappy person could harm themselves - so the subconscious does all it can to keep you in a happy state. The subconscious has no logic - it's just a memory machine. It remembers eating cake, drinking alcohol or whatever food it is that makes you break your diet, makes you happy. This conflicts with your conscious desire to reduce your weight.

The conscious mind controls your willpower. The subconscious mind controls your imagination. Because your imagination is very power the subconscious wins 97% of the time.

The way to give your subconscious a new instructions - such as - I don't like cake - I don't want to eat unhealthy. I don't wish you drink too much alcohol. Do that, and you stand an excellent chance of succeeding in reducing your excess weight. Permanently.

There is only one way to talk to your subconscious - and that's by Hypnosis. Either self-hypnosis or listening to a hypnotherapist.

Before I retired as a Clinical Hypnotherapist I ran a successful slimming club. I developed a program using hypnosis, together with self-hypnosis that was very effective in not only helping my ladies to reduce their weight but importantly keep them from regaining the weight back.

You don't need to spend money consulting a Hypnotherapist when you can use YouTube for free.

Sadly there are not many hypnosis videos on YouTube about weight reduction, which is such a shame, as hypnosis is so valuable in re-directing your mental attitudes to food.

Maybe I should film weight reduction ideas on YouTube.I know this is something I should really get into, but as that's for the future - I thought 'Hey why not check out the  hypnosis videos YouTube has on weight reduction.

I do wish hypnotherapists would stop using the 'L' word - lose. The subconscious mind is very literal. If you lose something your subconscious will mentally look for it. It's one of the reasons dieters suffer from regaining their weight.

That said, don't let the use of the 'L' word, put you off from using hypnosis to help you achieve your weight reduction goals.

Here's one of the best weight reduction hypnosis sessions I have found on YouTube.

Michael Sealey - Hypnosis for weight loss (guided relaxation, healthy diet, sleep & motivation)

I am sure he will help you chase away the fridge dragons for good.
